Water filters and wheel chair distributed at Rampal

KHULNA  – Bangladesh-India friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) today distributed 76 water filters to 15 schools and four colleges of Rampal upzila and 35 wheel chairs to physically challenged people at Rajnagar union parishad.

A free medical camp for the villagers was also organised here.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque distributed the materials at a function with Project Director of Maitree Super Thermal Power Project (MSTPP) SC Pandey in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner of Bagerhat Tapan Kumar Biswas, Police Superintendent Pankaj Chandra Roy, Deputy Project Director of MSTPP Md Rezaul Karim, and former General Secretary of Khulna press Club Mallick Sudhangsu were, among others, present.

The free medical camp was inaugurated by KCC mayor Khaleque.

More than 300 local people got free medical advice and medicines of various diseases from the company during the daylong camp.

Similar type of medical camps will be organised in other unions of Rampal. These medical camps are being organised in addition to company’s regular weekly health camps, which take place on every Saturday and Tuesday at the project site, said Anwarul Azim, Manager (Public Relation) of BIFPCL.
