Some activists of Galachilpa Upazila Chhatra League hacked Dhaka’s Kabi Nazrul Govt College student mercilessly leaving him critically injured along with four others over a trifling matter in Patuakhali district on Sunday night.

The injured student was identified as Mohammad Elias Mahmud (26) son of Nuru Mia of Galachipa union under Galachipla Upazila.

The incident took place Amkhola union Bazar while a group of armed BCL men led by Amkhola union BCL general secretary Rezaul Karim chased his president and his men over tearing off posters with lethal weapons.

At one stage, Rezaul Karim led group hacked Elias who was visiting his paternal father house in the union as other feuding group fled, victim’s family claimed adding that he was enjoying Eid vacation there.

First he was rushed to Galachipa health complex, later on, he was taken Barishal Sher-E-Bangladesh medical college as he was bleeding profusely.

Deep cut marks were found on her back and head and the marks testified that he was hacked with razor, victim’s friend Sakib Hasan said.

Sakib said, “He was not involved with the incident but it is done intentionally as he was relative of one of the activists loyal to union BCL president Sohag.”

No case was filed yet but I heard the incident, Galachipa Thana Officer -in-Charge Mohammad Jahid Hossain said, measure will be if anyone files the case.
