Congenial atmosphere created for holding fair polls: CEC

DHAKA  – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda today said a congenial atmosphere has been created across the country for holding the 11th national election in a free and fair manner.

“A congenial environment has already been created across the country to hold a fair election, as people including the candidates are participating in the electioneering with enthusiasm. Candidates are taking part in the pre-election rallies and campaigns amid festivity,” he said.

The CEC was addressing at a training workshop on Election Management System (EMS), Candidate Information Management System (CIMS) and Result Management System (RMS) at ETI Bhaban at Agargaon here.

He said, “We can confirm that a fair national election will be held on December 30 as all will perform their duties properly.”

Describing the EC as the custodian of every vote, he said, “You (election officials) would have to remain alert in counting votes so that no occurrence can take place for any mistake in this regard.”

“My confidence has increased about holding a free and fair election as the people who have got election related trainings are working properly. There will be no problem at field level to hold a fair election as all sorts of trainings have already been imparted to the concerned people,” he added.

“We are giving training to the polling agents of candidates about the electoral rules so that they can do their duties,” he continued.

Regarding filed level allegations of violating electoral rules, Nurul Huda said, “The allegations should to be filed to the returning officers and the electoral inquiry committees for quick actions against those.”

The CEC hoped that the election will be held in a free and fair manner with the help of all.
