DHAKA – The government has declared December 30 (Sunday) as a public holiday to enable the voters to cast their votes without hassles from work-related commitments.

A gazette notification has already been issued to this end, said an official handout.

Earlier on Monday the Election Commission (EC) has sent a letter to the Public Administration Ministry requesting them to announce December 30 as public holiday. The voting in the 11th parliamentary polls will be held on December 30.

The public holiday meant for enabling the officers and employees of the government, semi-government, private and autonomous bodies and the teachers, officers and employees of all public and private educational institutions throughout the country to exercise their rights of franchise.
