Two-day Latin American Carnival in Dhaka

TBT Report : Bangladesh Travel Writers Association is going to organize ‘Latin American Carnival-2024’ for the first time in the capital, Dhaka from March 1 with the theme ‘Life is a Carnival’. On March 1 and 2, the two-day festival will feature screenings of famous Latin American films, book festivals and cultural performances.
Ashrafuzzaman Ujjal, president of the organizer-Bangladesh Travel Writers Association, said, “In the festival, we will keep more than 60 books for the visitors coming to the festival, which are translated from Latin American literature. Apart from this, the list will also include the books of Bangladeshi travelers traveling to Latin and Central American countries. Films from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina will be shown in this two-day festival.
He said, on the first day of the festival, the Brazilian movie Carandiru will be screened at 7 pm. The second day of the festival (March 2) will show Chile’s movie Machuca, Colombia’s El Beat, Cuba’s Martí, the Eye of the Canary, Uruguay’s Society of the Snow.
In addition, the Peruvian movie Margarita and the Argentine movie The Secret in Their Eyes will be shown. It is known that the opening ceremony, discussion and film exhibition will be held at the Foreign Service Academy at Bailey Roads at 3:30 pm on March 1. Various Latin American diplomats staying in Bangladesh will be present as guests on the first day of the festival.
