Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP couldn’t drum up more anti-government movement as the global community has no support on BNP’s caretaker government demand or so-called neutral government.

“BNP could not blow their balloon of movement as the global community don’t support its (BNP) prescribed caretaker government or so called neutral government,” he told a discussion.

Awami League Chattogram North district unit organized the discussion marking the National Mourning Day at LGED auditorium with its president MS Salam in the chair.

Dr Hasan said BNP had tried to blow the balloon of movement by calling a grand rally. But the next day, their balloon of movement went off through flopping their sit-in programme at the city’s entry point, he added.

The minister said BNP activists also know that there is no benefit to visit the foreigners and it is not possible to topple the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. For this, their programmes are now limited in distributing leaflets and road marches, he continued.

He said Tarique Rahman wants to use the BNP as a force of baton and he doesn’t want his Party leaders to take elections. They have no possibility in the polls and, for this, they have chosen the path of sabotage, he said.

He said it is not an important matter whether BNP would take part in the polls or not. It is an important issue whether the countrymen would take part in the elections or not, he said.

Dr Hasan said the next general elections will be held in a free and fair manner with the participation of people and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be elected as the Premier for the four consecutive time.

Paying glowing tribute to Bangabandhu and other martyrs of August 15 in 1975, the information minister said anti-liberation forces, foreign conspiracies and opposition political forces were involved in the brutal killings.

He said the killers have been tried and it is needed to unmask the kingpins behind the killings for the interest of history.

The minister said the opposition political parties have failed to face Bangabandhu’s daughter. As per a survey of the IRI of the US, 70 percent people are supporting the works of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. For this, many become crazy, said Dr Hasan.

AL Chattogram North district unit general secretary Sheikh Ataur Rahman, Chattogram Zila Parishad Chairman ATM Pearul Islam, Ranguniya upazila chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder, Professor Moinuddin, Abul Kalam Azad, and Chhatra League North district unit Rezaul Karim, among others, addressed the meeting.

AL Chattogram North district unit joint general secretary Debashish Palit conducted it.
