10th Maths Olympiad held at JnU

The tenth National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad 2018 of Dhaka South Zone was held at Jagannath University’s (JnU) central auditorium on Friday.

JnU Mathematics Department organised the event in collaboration with Bangladesh Mathematical Society and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation.

Chief Guest Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman inaugurated the Olympiad through  releasing pigeons.Then a colorful rally headed by the Vice-Chancellor circulated the campus. The students of the Olympiad ceremony, the teachers and  the Mathematics Department students  participated in the rally.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Mizanur Rahman said, “there is no way to know the world without mathematics. Mathematics makes people be intelligent. We have to invent the original truth through mathematical statistical information and have to achieve the analytical ability of mathematics.”

Jagannath University Treasurer Professor Selim Bhuiya, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr. Pair Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Mathematical Association Professor Dr. Md. Mobarak Hossain and Professor of Computer Science Department of BUET. Md. Kaikobad also addressed in the event.

Students of 32 institutions of Dhaka South Zone including JnU, Dhaka University, and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology took part in the Olympiad test.
