DHAKA  – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said all fears over the polls started disappearing and the countrymen would exercise their franchise in a favorable and festive environment.

“Foreigners, including European Union (EU), have given their opinions over the forthcoming polls, saying it will be held in a free, fair and neutral manner. Now the people of the country can cast their votes for their favorite candidates,” he said, speaking at a press conference at AL president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said, “We have faith in the country’s people and they will vote us again. We believe that the countrymen will cast their votes in favour of the development and achievements of the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

He said a huge popularity has been created in favour of ‘Boat’, the electoral symbol of AL, and it will speed up further in future. “The ‘Boat’, the symbol of pro-liberation forces, will win in the month of victory under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he added.

The AL general secretary said the 11th parliamentary election will be held in a free, fair and peaceful manner. All fears over the election have started disappearing and the people of the country will cast their votes freely, he added.

Quader said BNP had been hatching conspiracies centering the polls since the beginning. But now a peaceful environment is prevailing across the country, he said.

He said expressing concerns centering the polls is an old and bad habit of BNP. “They (BNP) will make allegations over the polls until the voting. We have no headache over their allegations,” Quader added.

Replying to a question, Quader said the friendship between BNP and Pakistan is still alive. But BNP will become friendless in the developed world gradually, he added.

He said BNP could realize that they will lose in the upcoming polls. There is no hope of win of BNP. So, they have no way other than raising allegations, he added.

Quader said the world community is not responding to BNP as no one want to continue relations with falsehood.

Regarding a recent report of the USA Congress on Jamaat and Shibir, Quader said the court have noticed the issue. The court will take necessary measures in this regard, he added.

He said the relation between BNP and Jamaat is ideological, not strategic. Their aim and objective are one and identical. They work together. Jamaat is the main strength of BNP in rallies and meetings, Quader added.

AL Joint General Secretary Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretaries Ahmad Hossain and BM Mozammel Haque, Science and Technology Secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, among others, were present in the press conference.
