One killed in clash over Biswa Ijtema
DHAKA – A man was killed and over 150 others were injured in clashes between two groups of devotees over establishing supremacy on the Biswa Ijtema.
The clash ensued early this morning between the followers of Maulana Saad and Maulana Zubair over controlling the congregation of the Muslims at No. 1 entry gate at Tongi, Emdadul Huq, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tongi west police station, told BSS.
One was killed and over 150 others were injured during the clash, he said.
The deceased was identified as Ismail Modol, 65, of Munshiganj. The injured were rushed to Tongi General Hospital, Uttara Hospital and local clinics for treatment. Police and other law enforcement agencies brought the situation under control, the OC said.
