Govt adjusts gas price

The government today adjusted the natural gas price at captive power, industry and commercial level that will be effective from February.

Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry today issued a gazette notification in this regard, saying the gas price for electricity production, industrial and commercial sectors have been adjusted upward.

But, the gas prices for residential, CNG and tea industry will remain unchanged, it said.

The notification mentioned that the price of gas supplied to the power sector was fixed at Tk 14 per cubic meter, while Tk 30 per cubic meter for captive power (captive power plant, small power plant and commercial power plant).

It also said gas price supplied for fertilizer was fixed at Tk 16 per cubic metre, Tk 30 per cubic meter for large industry, medium industry, small, cottage and other industries and Tk 30.50 per cubic meter for commercial (hotel, restaurant and others).

The notification added the gas price for residential pre-paid metre burner users will remain at Tk 18 per cubic metre, Tk 990 for single burner users without metre and Tk 1080 for double burner users without metre while Tk 11.93 per cubic meter for tea-industry (tea garden) and Tk 43 per cubic meter for CNG.
