Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today hoped that the Jubo League, with the help of the youth of the country, will build a hunger-and-poverty-free ‘Sonar Bangladesh’ being imbued with the spirit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman combating all the conspiracies.

“With the spirit of the great Liberation War and indomitable vigor Bangabandhu had ignited and instilled in the hearts of the youth of this country, the Jubo League along with the youth, will build a hunger-and-poverty-free and happy and prosperous Sonar Bangladesh facing all the conspiracies,” she said in a message on the eve of the 50th founding anniversary of Jubo League, the youth wing of ruling Awami League, to be observed tomorrow.

“On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Awami Jubo League, I extend my sincere greetings and congratulations to all the leaders and workers of the Jubo League,” she said.

She also remembered with deep respect the greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the founder of Jubo League martyr Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani and all the Jubo League leaders and activists who embraced martyrdom in the democratic movement in the country.

“Under the strong, dynamic, courageous, and magical leadership of the Father of the Nation, we got our own nation, state and proud identity,” she added.

Bangladesh Awami Jubo League was created with the aim of involving the youth force for the reconstruction of the newly independent war-torn country, Sheikh Hasina said.

This organization was born under the leadership of youth leader Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani at the instructions of Bangabandhu, she said, adding that since the inception of this organization, Jubo League devoted itself to the building of the country.

The premier went on saying that Bangabandhu and most of his family members were brutally killed on August 15 in 1975 when the nation was engaged in the struggle to build an exploitation-and-poverty-free golden Bangladesh under the leadership of the Father of the Nation.

Jubo League founding Chairman Moni and his pregnant wife Arzu Moni were also killed and thus, the politics of assassinations, coups and conspiracies began, she added.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the Awami League-led government has been working tirelessly for the overall development of the country, being inspired by the spirit of the great Liberation War, after assuming power in 2008.

In the last 14 years, the government has achieved the desired progress in every sector of the country, the premier said, adding that as a result, Bangladesh is now a role model of development before the world in socio-economic development.

Noting that one-third of the total population of Bangladesh is youth, she further said the youths have immense potential and fresh enthusiasm to fight against hunger, poverty and drugs for building a ‘Sonar Bangladesh’.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the leaders and workers of the Jubo League have set a new example of humanity by distributing food to the helpless people, building houses for the refugees, harvesting the rice of the farmers and providing free medical services.

The premier hoped that the spirit of the youth’s struggle will be more incisive and dynamic through the observance of the golden jubilee of Jubo League.
