TBT Report : For the first time in the history of Dhaka University, a two-day long Research and Publication fair has started on Saturday at the central playground of the university. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the opening ceremony of this two-day fair.
In the opening ceremony, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, MP was the chief guest while Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, MP was present as the guest of honor. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal and Treasurer Professor Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed were present as special guests. The program was conducted by Registrar Prabir Kumar Sarkar. After the inauguration, the guests visited the various stalls of the fair.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman emphasized on conducting education and research programs according to the needs of the society and said, this fair has been organized with the aim of establishing industry-academia relationship and strengthening publication, research and innovation activities. He hoped, this fair will play an effective role in assessing social needs, creating and distributing new knowledge. Emphasizing on the launch of joint cooperative education and research programs with various foreign universities to improve the quality of education and research of Dhaka University, he said that the existing policy for admission of foreign students in this university needs to be simplified.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, MP emphasized on acquiring technical skills and said, the current generation should be developed as a skilled workforce to meet the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution.
The fair has hundreds of stalls of various faculties, departments, institutes, publishing houses and research centers. In these stalls, 55 books, 26 special journals, 216 research projects, 624 posters and 86 flyers/ brochures with various publications and innovations published on the occasion of Dhaka University have been placed.
