Jobaer Alam collects AL nomination form for Nilphamari-3 constituency

The chairman of the department of Oceanography, and editor and publisher of the national daily ‘The Bangladesh Today’ Jobaer Alam has submitted the nomination paper as an aspiring candidate of Nilphamari-3 constituency for the upcoming 11th parliamentary elections.


He collected the nomination papers from Awami League’s Dhanmondi office around at 5:30 pm on Sunday, and submitted his nomination papers to party office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap. Jobaer Alam has been serving as the Chairman of the Department of Oceanography of Dhaka University and editor of English National daily ‘The Bangladesh Today’ for a long time. He was also an Executive Member of Bangladesh Chattra League, FH Hall Branch, when he was a student in Dhaka University from 2003 till 2006. As a teacher he remains an active member of the supporters of the Blue group and departmental acquaintance of Department of Oceanography of Dhaka University since 2009. On 2016 he was elected as the central executive member of Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League and is performing his duties with utmost devotion ever since.


After completing his Bachelors and Masters in Science form Dhaka University, Jobaer Alam went to Canada’s Vancouver Island University for a Post-Degree Diploma program in Aquaculture Technology in 2008. In 2010 he completed his MBA Degree from Keller School of Management in New York, USA. He also completed a Summer Program on Global Climate Change from Harvard University in 2012. After staying at abroad for a long time, he started thinking about how he can do something for his birthplace and for the underprivileged people.
According to him, it is not possible to make radical change in an area or city by personal initiative. Responsibilities of several organizations, including department of Oceanography Dhaka University are entrusted to me. But my heart always cries for the disaster-stricken people of the northern region. S o if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman nominates me to compete with my skills, qualifications and for my affection towards the people of my area, then I will get an opportunity to reflect on my sincerity, devotion and love towards the people of the country.
During the collection and submission of the nomination form, Jobaer Alam was accompanied by the Managing Editor of The Bangladesh Today Taposh Roy, General Manager (Marketing) Khaki Kamal Hossain, Circulation Manager Freedom Fighter Md. Shahidullah and Dhaka University Chhatra League member Iftekhar, Mahi, Shahriar, Siam, Utsho, Ferdous and a group of students.
