Nabanna Utsab to celebrate in Khulna Nov 15

KHULNA – Khulna District Administration will celebrate ‘Nabanna Utsab’, the traditional Bengali festival, in the city on November 15.

Nabanna Utsab, is a Bengali harvest celebration usually celebrated with food and dance and music in Bangladesh. It is a festival of food; many local preparations of Bengali cuisine like pithe are cooked and offered.

To celebrate the festival a total success, a preparedness meeting was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner’s office today with additional deputy commissioner (general) Md Ziaur Rahman in the chair.

On the occasion, Khulna district administrate has chalked up different programmes including rally, fair, cake festival and art competition on “Nabanna and Grameen Bangla” for children, prize distribution and musical soiree.

A colorful procession will also be brought out from city’s Shaheed Hadis Park at 8am. Moreover, an art competition will be held at Zila Shishu Academy while day-long musical soiree at Shaheed Hadis Park.

Additional deputy commissioner M Ziaur Rahman said the present government has taken decision to observe Nabanna Utsab in befitting manner as the festival is one of the cultural heritages of the Bangali nation.

The Bangali nation has been celebrating the festival on the first day of Agrahayan since the ancient time.
