Countrywide daylong COVID-19 booster dose campaign on July 19

The nationwide daylong COVID-19 booster dose campaign will be observed on July 19 to expedite vaccination programme to combat the outbreak of the deadly virus.

“The people aged 18 and above will be eligible for receiving COVID-19 booster dose during the daylong campaign (July 19)….they (eligible people)
will be inoculated booster dose after completing four months,” Directorate General of Health Services(DGHS) sources said.

Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the National Covid-19 Vaccine Management Task force, said the government has set a target to administer 75
lakh people booster dose on the day.

“Alongside regular vaccination centres, we have set up additional vaccination centres to inoculate the targeted people with COVID-19 booster
dose,” he told BSS.

As of July 14, a total of 27,95,85,685 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including booster doses, were administered as the countrywide vaccination
campaign was launched on February 7, last year.

“A total of 12, 95, 26,431 people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine till yesterday (Thursday) while 11,97,94,388 received the
second dose across the country during the period,” according to data issued by Directorate General of Health Services(DGHS).

As many as 3,0,2,41,346 people received the booster doses of the vaccine to prevent the spread of the deadly virus, it added.

A total of 3,34,12,350 students aged 12-17 years were vaccinated with firstand second doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

Of them, 1,73,47,831 students received first dose of vaccines while 1,60,64,519 were immunized with second dose of the jabs, the DGHS sources said.

Some 3,72,564 people have so far been inoculated across the country, they said.

“Till the date, Bangladesh received over 30 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines… Either the country got the vaccine doses under COVAX facilities
or through purchase,” the DGHS added.
