European stock markets rose at the open Tuesday after Tokyo closed higher, as global equities recover lost ground following recent sharp losses on recession fears.

London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index jumped 1.0 percent to 7,329.48 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX index gained 0.8 percent to 13,289.89 points and the Paris CAC 40 advanced 1.1 percent to 6,113.31.
