S M Akash, Bureau Chief, Ctg: A total of 17.0894 acres of land has been acquired for the construction of a permanent campus of the Islamic Arabic University established by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, got it by university authority.
On Wednesday morning, 22 June, under the project titled “Establishment of Islamic Arabic University”, a total of 17.0894 acres of land in Ghatarchar and Madhyarchar mouzas under Keraniganj police station of Dhaka district was given to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ahsan Ullah Under the leadership of Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam, land acquisition check distribution and land handover ceremony was held. At that time, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic Arabic University got a total of 17.0894 acres of land by paying checks to the land owners.
Under the sincere efforts and leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Islamic Arabic University Act 2013 was passed in the National Assembly and with the consent of the President, the widely acclaimed Islamic Arabic University was established. Since its inception, under the able leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Madrasa has been conducting various activities related to development, modernization of education system, development of Fazil (undergraduate) and Kamil (postgraduate) curriculum and modernization and improvement of curriculum.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Ahsan Ullah said the country’s Alem Ulama Pir Mashayekh and 1,500 hundred Fazil Kamils, Honors Masters Madrasa students and teachers in the construction and implementation of the permanent campus of the Islamic Arabic University, the governing body of madrasas established by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, through check distribution and land handover ceremony. The much awaited dream is about to come true.
Prof. Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic Arabic University, said that the realization of land for a permanent campus marked the beginning of a new horizon in madrasa education in the country.
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam said, “We are happy to hand over the land to Islamic Arabic University.” He also hoped that the permanent campus of the Islamic Arabic University would further accelerate madrasa education.
Also present on the occasion were Rafiq Ahmed Siddique, Project Director, Islamic Arabic University, Rezaul Haque, Registrar, Dr. Md. Abu Hanifa, Deputy Director (Planning and Development) said. Md. Rafiq Al Mamun, Education Engineer Department Team, Keraniganj Upazila Chairman Shaheen Ahmed, Additional Deputy Commissioner (L, A). Javed Ahmad, Assistant Registrar Md. Zakir Hossain and Fahad Ahmad Momtaji, Assistant Director (Planning and Development) Md. Ziaur Rahman along with teachers and staff.
The total area of the project is 17.0894 acres, of which 3 acres has been allocated for the Arabic Language Institute with a grant from the Saudi government. The Department of Education Engineers will be responsible for the implementation of the project “Establishment of Islamic Arabic University”
