ICT knowledge must for national advancement, says Mayor Mostafa

RANGPUR : Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa has said knowledge and skill in information and communication technology (ICT) are must in this age of competition for national advancement.
“Surviving in this competitive world without a combination of talent, ICT skill and qualification is now a big challenge,” he said. Mostafa made the observation while addressing the divisional meet up of the ICT Olympiad Bangladesh held at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) yesterday as the chief guest.
As many as 400 representatives, including the heads of delegations from different educational institutions of all eight districts in Rangpur division, participated in the daylong event.
Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Begum Rokeya University Md. Mizanur Rahman, Associate Professor of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems Omar Farooque and Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing Sheikh Mazedul Haque spoke as invited guests.

Project Director of the ICT Olympiad Bangladesh Sohag Miah, its Convener Shamima Binte Jalil and Governing Body Member Arefin Dipu, among others, addressed the meet up.
Citing various famous writers and philosophers, the speakers said that people do not use technology but live inside technology in the present age.
They highlighted various suggestions and issues to be taken by the participants to advance their respective districts in the field of information and communication technology.
The chief guest said the importance of education on information and communication technology is much more in eliminating unemployment.
“For this, students should have to acquire adequate knowledge and skill on information and communication technology alongside subject-based studies for attaining success in life,” he said.
