RANGPUR,  – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 has arrested two absconding accused in the sensational murder case of a pregnant housewife of Rangpur city from Lalmonirhat district.

“On a tip off, an operational team of RAB-13 arrested them from North Bengal Bashirtari area in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila on Wednesday afternoon,” a press release issued today by Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed said.

The arrested persons are Most Morsheda Begum, 45, and Md. Ataur Rahman alias Atoar, 55, of Tazhat area in Rangpur metropolis.

Earlier, a pregnant house wife was brutally tortured and murdered for dowry by inmates of her husband’s house in Tazhat police station area of Rangpur metropolis on January 19 last.

Father of the victim filed a murder case in this connection with Tazhat police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP).

Alongside police, the elite force conducted a shadow investigation into the sensational pregnant housewife murder case and arrested two of the absconding killers from Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted their involvement in murdering the housewife and elaborately narrated the whole episode of the sensational murder.

“We are continuing hectic efforts to nab the other absconding culprits involved with the murder the pregnant housewife,” the release said.

The arrested persons were handed over to Tazhat police station for further legal proceedings against them.
