152 fresh Covid-19 cases diagnosed in Rangpur Thursday

RANGPUR, – Some 152 fresh Covid-19 cases were diagnosed after testing 376 samples at two Covid-19 laboratories at 40.43 percent positivity rate in Rangpur division on Thursday.

Health officials said the pandemic situation is hastily deteriorating in the division as the number of Covid-19 cases continues rising everyday during the last more than two weeks.

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 45 percent on Wednesday, 39.72 percent on Tuesday, 35.80 percent on Monday, 43.57 percent on Sunday, 36.59 percent on Saturday and 22.60 percent on Friday last in the division.

Among the 152 new patients, 56 were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the 29.79 percent positivity rate today.

“The 56 new patients include 33 from Rangpur, 10 from Gaibandha, seven from Lalmonirhat, three from Kurigram, two from Nilphamari and one from Dinajpur districts,” said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy.

On the other hand, 96 new patients were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 51.065 percent positivity rate today.

“The 96 new patients include 83 from Dinajpur, two from Nilphamari, one from Panchagarh and 10 from Thakurgaon districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam told BSS that the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 58,065 as 152 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 58,065 patients include 13,141 of Rangpur, 3,952 Panchagarh, 4,690 of Nilphamari, 2,878 of Lalmonirhat, 4,714 of Kurigram, 7,974 of Thakurgaon, 15,666 of Dinajpur and 5,047 of Gaibandha in the division,” he added.
