The equation of expectation and achievement in fifty years of independence

Fifty years of independence have passed and today I am feeling simultaneous joy and sorrow. I am happy to be able to present myself as a proud citizen of an independent sovereign state. And I am saddened that even after 50 years of independence, the number of miserable people in this town is not decreasing but increasing. Even in 50 years, the foundation of the country’s constitutional institutions could not be strengthened. And people’s confidence in democratic systems and institutions is gradually declining. The people of the country are suffering more from neglect and suffering instead of getting high quality services from law enforcement and general administration. Even today we have not been able to bring the country under the proper system. This country is known as a democratic country. But there is no end to the questions about that democracy at home and abroad. In a democracy, political parties are seen as complementary. It is natural for political parties to have differences in party policy ideology. Despite these differences of opinion, it is political etiquette to have mutual respect and devotion among politicians. None of this has been achieved in the last 50 years.

In the last 50 years, we have acquired only one major asset. That is our constitution. Just as there are all the tools to build a welfare state, there is also a wonderful table of what will be the method of running the state. The preamble to the constitution carefully states that “the main goal of the state will be to establish a democratic system of socialism free from exploitation where the rule of law, basic human rights and politics are guaranteed for all citizens.” Special emphasis has been given elsewhere in the constitution on democracy. Elections are the lifeblood of democracy. And to arrange for a fair, free and fair vote for this election, so that the integrity of the election can be kept above all doubt. The constitution provides for the formation of an election commission to conduct elections with sufficient powers. Giving the highest priority to the rule of law in the country, so that the people get protection by law at all times, it is attached in the proposal of the constitution. Legal supremacy is not only here but also elsewhere in this law. Fundamental human rights are so important in the constitution of Bangladesh that there is a separate chapter attached to them.

The issues that we have raised from the preamble of the constitution in the last 50 years are only in the book, democracy is not establishing human rights in reality.

Most of the hopes for independence have remained unfulfilled. No calculations can be made in 50 years. Apart from that, millions of lives have been martyred in the war of liberation; And those who dreamed of an independent territory without going directly to the battlefield, Many of those who have inspired people will think that they are the beneficiaries of freedom. Many of them have left the world today. In the last 50 years, as many waters have flowed into the sea through hundreds of rivers in this country, many governments have come and gone, but no one has kept their word. Those who think about the country and the ten, keep a constant watch on the environmental situation of the country, The inquisitive people, however, cannot rely on all the fearless assurances and promises given by the administration from the past till today. Judging by the statements of the authorities, he thinks that many of their statements are merely ‘talkative’. There is only low quality politics behind such talk. Remember, the politicians of the country change color from time to time like the sky. While in power, they have the same words and after coming down from power, they have different colors; Everything in the past is turned upside down. That is to say, something has to be said in terms of time and situation. This is a kind of self-deception. People have become accustomed to such speeches of political executives.

They always say that the tide of development progress of the country is flowing. But at the same time, they should say that irregularities, deprivation and corruption are rampant in the country. I don’t want to waste time debating whether the country is making progress or not; Other than that, it is scary to get involved in such a debate, because who knows where the water will flow from, And who knows what will happen when the law is broken. The development project is going on but its expenditure allocation is increasing from time to time. How was the calculation before? Now the project cost is changing. I have to read in a daze about this. In this way, it is not clear how much the cost of horse racing is going to skyrocket in the last 50 years. Not for long, the improvement is increasing the cost but where is its coordination, its evaluation review, there should be accountability. For a long time now, the administration has been saying that the ‘state apparatus’ is a novice in trying to connect the people of the country between peace and comfort and not getting what they want by implementing the dream of the country’s architect Bangabandhu. The people of the country who keep an eye on everything, think and research, think that in the last 50 years no consideration has been given to this authority; How long will the people of the country wait to understand their promises? 50 years is not a short time. A form of Bangabandhu’s dream has been crystallized in our unique constitution. Basically the idea of a ‘welfare state’ is there.

The question is, how much work is going on? We are interested in many things. We see that all the work is being done in a city-metropolitan area. Surely everyone will agree that cities and metropolises are not the whole country, but at the moment we want to know that most of the people of the country live outside the cities and metropolises. Our purpose is to find out about their condition. The developed countries of the West follow a scientific formula of development. There is no priority of city, metropolis, village, ganj in the concept of development. Considering only the needs of the people and if something is accidentally left out of the plan that matters. But do we follow that table? As many mistakes have been made in the last 50 years in the development plan of the country, where sometimes individual arbitrariness has taken place, which has proved to be unnecessary in terms of time including inequality, there has been unforgivable error in prioritizing the project. “If I fail to take these into consideration, to give importance And we are unable to take our country to a stage of development. However, brain drain cannot be stopped. In that we will be known as an incompetent nation. That is why our country is considered as a disaster city in the world. Which has tarnished our image. And if the country is incompetent in the future. It will bring a lot of danger, it can’t be said.”

Today, I think it is not right to ask the present authorities to respond to those deviations of the past. Apart from that, history is a hopeless witness of the times, where everything is encapsulated in crystal clear bright writing. In the last 50 years, how much has they tried to do as much as they were supposed to do, and how much negligence and mistake has been made by them? With the hopes and dreams of so many people, Bangladesh has declared its existence in the world as an independent sovereign country. Only a short time ago, a statement of an honorable member of the cabinet was published in a newspaper. From there, it is known that 25 percent of the households in rural areas do not have such a tent on their head. This is the reality of 50 years of independence. It should be added here that now most of the wealth has been accumulated in the hands of a few people. However, the constitution has urged the state administration to quickly eliminate inequality in the country. However, it should be noted that the Prime Minister has recently given their dream nest to a number of extremely poor homeless people in the state system. The people of the village are 100% dependent on agriculture as in the past. Thousands of problems in agriculture, how much of an initiative to eliminate it?

The problem faced by the farmers especially with the irrigation system will have a negative impact on the grain production. This will have adverse effects not only on the farmers but also on the food production of the country. Policy makers need to think that people are growing and demand is growing fast. If you forget the question of the combination of these two? Apart from that, agriculture is more or less related to climate all over the world. According to him, the climate dependence of our agriculture is much higher. This is what we need to keep in mind now, the path that has not been crossed in the last 50 years. Now we have to move fast. There is no chance to look back. Now I will say some bitter words remembering 50 years. There are many Bangladeshis who returned to the country from abroad for a long time and first came to the capital Dhaka and became overwhelmed with emotions; Overwhelmed with joy, many questions arose in their minds, Why did the authorities allow the capital to become such an unplanned city? Many hartakartas of the country always travel abroad, do they not realize anything from there? More questions arise in their minds as to whether this feeling of authority has not been created, everyone in the world attaches special importance to the fact that ‘time is money’.

In addition, reckless mechanical vehicles take many lives every day. There are so many more questions that come to their minds. They hear that there is no pure drinking water in the land, The adulteration of all food, the tyranny of rogue traders, the custom of disobeying the law, people have to travel year after year to get justice, law enforcement members could not think of people as helpful friends, bribery, corruption in today’s lifestyle, education is far behind; Various fears, free movement of miscreants. The country’s environmental conditions, water, air and noise pollution, adulterated and substandard drugs make him sick. Feelings, and experiences of people from abroad are not pleasant. Why hasn’t our authority realized these issues in the last 50 years? The importance of those people, their intellectual prowess is incapable of evaluating the country. The country in which they live is considered a second home. Even after that there is enough evaluation of them. If their country is insecure then one day they will start thinking of their country as second home. If the situation does not improve, the country will be forgotten.

If we fail to take these considerations into account and take our country to a stage of development, then the brain drain cannot be stopped. In that we will be known as an incompetent nation. Our country is considered as a disaster-ridden country in the outside world. Which tarnishes our image. And if the country is incompetent, many dangers will come in the future. Which cann’t to say.
