Sunlight did not appear in the sky for three days in a row in Khulna. Although the temperature is normal, the incidence of winter has increased. Children and the elderly are more affected by cold-related diseases. The sun will be seen from Tuesday. On Monday, the minimum temperature in Khulna and its adjoining areas was 16 degrees Celsius. Khulna Meteorological Department official Amirul Islam said.
According to the sources, it has been raining heavily in Khulna area since last Friday and it was accompanied by cold wind. The amount of rain has been increasing since Saturday. The face of the sun was not seen on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. In addition there was cold wind and drizzle. After that, normal life was severely disrupted from Monday night due to moderate rain in some parts of Khulna. There was not much traffic in Khulna city since Monday morning.
There were no many people. The office-court was also completely empty. The busiest passenger Parani Ghat, Rupsha Ferry Ghat in Khulna, Jail Ferry Ghat, Kalibari Ferry Ghat and all the other ghats had less number of passengers.
The pandemic appear to be exacerbated during the three-day winter, especially for children and the elderly. Khulna Children’s Hospital has more than 200 patients with fever, cold and cough at the moment. Most of them have been admitted to the hospital in the last three to four days.
Anup Kumar Dey, a senior doctor at Khulna Children’s Hospital, said the number of children suffering from cold had increased. The hospital has adequate medical facilities. Pediatric patients have already begun to recover. The medical system is adequate.
Amirul Azad, an official of the Khulna Meteorological Department, said there was no light due to the clouds or sun in the sky for the last three days. And for this reason it seems cold at the moment. But on Monday, the maximum temperature in Khulna was 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 16 degrees Celsius. From Tuesday, the clouds in the sky will start to cut and the incidence of winter will start to decrease.
