Ali Azam: One of the bravest journalist of the country

Every morning with a cup of tea, newspapers seem to be our daily companion. Ali Azam is one of the creators of all the great news stories which are arousing the mindset of the general mass and the concerns reminding them to take action against the crimes happening daily in our country.
Ali Azam is the sixth of eight children of the freedom fighter Abul Hossain Mia and Anowara Hossain.

He took both in the Kalimajhi village, Boalmari Upazila under the district Faridpur. His childhood passed there. Azam passed his SSC in the year of 2000 and HSC in 2002 respectively from Sahasrail Public Pilot High School and Alfadanga Government College in the same district. He finished his higher education in Dhaka completing Honors in English Literature from Kabi Nazrul Government College in 2008 and Masters of Social Science in Victimology and Restorative Justice from the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, Dhaka University.

Azam had a great passion for writing since his student life. He carried on with his small endeavors of writing various articles. He would have great inspiration from his friend circle, especially from one friend named Hamid. They used to assure Azam that his writings were really great.

Being inspired by them, he kept going with sending various articles in different newspapers and magazines. Seeing those published would really charm him and encourage further writing. Especially the support he got from his well-wishers after the writings being published in the weekly segment- Projonmo Kantha and weekly magazine- Mouchake Dhil of the daily ‘Janakantha’, gave another dimension to his writings through giving much confidence indeed.

Azam’s formal entry in the world of journalism took place in the year of 2011 through joining the ‘Daily Sangbad’ as a crime reporter on June 18. He was enriched there being guided by respected AKM Baki Billah in having the primary knowledge of crime reporting. He joined the famous daily of the country ‘Amader Shomoy’ in 2013. He found there a person like the ever-smiling Mr. Shahjahan Akand Shubh. Working there for four months, he joined the country’s most widely circulated daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ in May.

Here he is working in the company of such skilled and respected reporters like- Mirza Mehdi Tamal, Alauddin Arif and Sakhawat Kawsar. He got the company of the talented reporters like- Sajjad Mahmud Khan, Habib Rahman, Shahidul Islam Razi, Ataur Rahman and others throughout the journey. Azim is ever-grateful to the leader of crime journalists, Ashraf Hossain Isha for having him as a shadow over the head in all the turmoil.

This amazing journalist got some magnificent awards for his nicely penning down the reports. He had been awarded for the Best Anti-Drug Report in 2012 by the Prothom Alo Trust and for the Best Report on Human Rights by the Bangladesh Manabadhikar Bastabayan Sangstha (BMBS) in the same year. Indeed it was a rare achievement for a young reporter like him.

Ali Azam is engaged with different organizations and platforms at present those include- Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB), CRMCS, Dhaka Reporters Unity(DRU), DRUMCS, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), BFUJ, DFJF, PIRF, Combined human welfare organization, etc. along with serving as the Vice-President of ‘Dhrubatara Savings and Loan Cooperative Society Limited’.

This man is continuing with his amazing works and also focusing on social work. He has already established ‘Anandanagar Model Madrasa’ in Narayanganj for serving the helpless and orphan children are given emphasis. He always tries to be active in the works for the people of the society with his family and friends via social media.

This man loves traveling and visiting different places. No doubt, Bangladesh is getting huge important reports from this invincible person which are helping to bring revolts awakening people’s minds especially on the crimes taking place regularly. He wishes to keep up the work of journalism till his death.
