RAJSHAHI,  – Rajshahi University (RU) administration has started collecting corona samples for its test aimed at preventing the Covid- 19 spread at the campus, RU sources said this noon.

All the students and others concerned can give samples at RU Medical Centre from 9.30 am to 11.30 am from Sunday to Thursday. Students can test their sample free of cost showing their respective identity cards, while others have to show identity cards or national identity cards and to pay fees fixed by the government.

Meanwhile, the varsity administration has issued a set of health protection directives to protect its people from Covid-19 infection. RU authorities urged all its teachers, students, officers and employees to follow the directives, including wearing masks and receiving vaccines, in the campus to prevent the virus spread. All have been asked to maintain health rules, including taking double dose vaccines, as directed by the government.

All the first-year students have been asked to take at least a single dose vaccine. Meanwhile, academic activities, including classes in-person, in the university are going on at present since October 21 last. The varsity authority also opened the students’ dormitories for the convenience of the students.

The hall authorities set up hand sanitization basins at the entrance point for the students. Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar said they have canceled the scheduled summer and winter vacations to recoup the academic losses. The public varsity has launched an inoculation campaign aimed at bringing its students under the first dose and second dose Covid-19 vaccination. It has also opened a 24-bed Covid-19 isolation room at the medical centre to deal with any emergency situation.
