The High Court on Sunday (Oct 14) rejected a revision petition filed by BNP chief Khaleda Zia challenging its earlier order of continuing the trial process of Zia Charitable Trust graft case in her absence.

The HC bench of Judge Obaidul Hassan and Judge SM Kuddus Zaman passed the order. The court earlier fixed Oct 10 for delivering the order upon hearing on the plea.

Lawyers AJ Mohammad Ali moved for the revision plea while lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), at the courtroom.

Now there is no bar to continue the trial of her, as the court has directly rejected the appeal, said Khurshid Alam.

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the graft case against Khaleda Zia and three others with Tejgaon police station on August 8, 2011 for embezzling Tk 3.15 crore from Zia Charitable Trust.
