At least four persons were killed in two separate incidents of landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in Chittagong city, in wake of cyclonic storm Titli. Several others are reported missing.
45-year-old Nurjahan, her two and a half-year-old daughter Foyjunnesa and 65-year-old Bibi Zohra were killed as a hill collapsed in no.1 Jhil area under Firoj Shah Colony under the city ward-9, around 2:30am Sunday (Oct 14).
Akbar Shah Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Lutfar Rahman confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
The bodies were recovered separately, at early hours of the morning.
Two units of Fire Service launched a Search & Rescue on the spot, Fire Service Senior Station Officer Rezaul Kabir told banglanews.
One Nure Alam Nantu, 35, sustained critical injuries as a big tree got uprooted triggered by mudslide in a hill, leading several homesteads devastated, in Rahmannagar area under Panchlaish Police Station around 1am.
Nantu was whisked-off to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
CMCH Police Outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shilbrata Barua confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
