No Covid-19 casualty in last 48 hours in Rangpur

RANGPUR, – No Covid-19 related casualty was reported during the last 48 hours ending at 8 am today in Rangpur division where the total number of fatalities remained steady at 1,252. “The last casualty was reported from Dinajpur on Wednesday in the division where the pandemic situation continued improving during the last four months,” said Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam.

The district-wise breakup of the 1,252 fatalities currently stands at 293 in Rangpur, 81 in Panchagarh, 89 in Nilphamari, 69 each in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram, 256 in Thakurgaon, 332 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha of the division. The average casualty rate stands at 2.24 percent in the division. Meanwhile, the total number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 54,143 with the recovery of 13 more patients on Friday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 97.04 percent.

The 54,143 recovered patients include 12,150 of Rangpur, 3,722 Panchagarh, 4,370 Nilphamari, 2,625 Lalmonirhat, 4,527 Kurigram, 7,417 Thakurgaon, 14,529 in Dinajpur and 4,803 Gaibandha districts in the division. At the same time, the total number of Covid-19 cases rose to 55,796 with diagnosis of three more patients after testing 82 samples at the positivity rate of 3.66 percent on Friday in the division. “The district-wise break up of total 55,796 patients include 12,580 of Rangpur, 3,835 Panchagarh, 4,467 of Nilphamari, 2,764 of Lalmonirhat, 4,650 of Kurigram, 7,707 of Thakurgaon, 14,913 of Dinajpur and 4,880 of Gaibandha in the division,” Dr Islam said. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, a total of 3,08,401 collected samples were tested till Friday, and of them, 55,796 were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 18.09 percent in the division.

Among the 55,796 patients, 19 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including four critical patients at ICU beds and two at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 54,143 patients and 1,252 deaths while 382 are remaining now in home isolation.

Meanwhile, number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 82,99,039, and among them, 56,83,461 got the second dose while 35,188 were inoculated with the booster dose of the jabs till Friday in the division,” Dr Islam added. Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr Bimal Kumar Roy said the Covid-19 pandemic situation continues to improve in the last four months across Rangpur division. “However, everyone should properly abide by the health directives to prevent another probable wave of the lethal virus amid detection of its new Omicron variant,” he added.
