Truck driver burnt in Tangail head-on collision

A truck driver was burnt in a head-on collision between two trucks on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway in Tangail. The truck caught fire at the accident. Rezaul Rahman, deputy director of Tangail Fire Service, confirmed the information and said that the accident took place in Choto Bottola area of Kalihati around 9:30 am on Saturday.

Police and fire service said a truck loaded with maize left North Bengal for Dhaka. Another truck loaded with cement leaving Dhaka was heading towards North Bengal. While on the spot, the wheel of the cement loaded truck exploded. Two trucks collided head on as the driver lost control. At that time a truck caught fire.

Upon receiving the news, the fire service people reached the spot and brought the fire under control. However, the driver of a truck was trapped and burned. Another was injured. They were rescued and admitted to Tangail Sadar Hospital. The accident caused a traffic jam of at least 25 km on both sides of the highway. Police are working to control the situation till filing the report.
