Rangpur records 3.23pc Covid-19 positivity rate Thursday

RANGPUR,  – Rangpur division recorded 2.33 percent Covid-19 positivity as four fresh cases were reported after testing 124 new samples at the two Covid-19 Laboratories on Thursday.

Health officials said the coronavirus pandemic situation continues to improve amid declining positivity rate and increasing recovery rate almost during the last four months across the division. Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 1.71 percent on Wednesday, 3.87 percent on Tuesday, 3.24 percent on Monday, 1.33 on Sunday, 2.46 percent on Saturday and 3.00 percent on Friday last in the division.

Among the four new patients, one was reported positive after testing 51 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the positivity rate of 1.96 percent today. “The only new Covid-19 patient is hailing from Rangpur city,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6 pm. On the other hand, three new patients were reported after diagnosing 73 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at 3.23 percent positivity rate today.

“All three new patients are hailing from different areas of four from Dinajpur district,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said. Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,703 as four new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 55,703 patients include 12,544 of Rangpur, 3,832 Panchagarh, 4,463 of Nilphamari, 2,758 of Lalmonirhat, 4,646 of Kurigram, 7,695 of Thakurgaon, 14,889 of Dinajpur and 4,876 of Gaibandha in the division,” he added.
