BSS Satkhira correspondent Arun cremated with state honor

SATKHIRA,  – Satkhira district correspondent of the national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and valiant freedom fighter Advocate Arun Banarjee’s funeral was performed today following the Guard of Honor.

A smart team of police provided him with the guard on honor at Central Shaheed Minar here for his contributions to the great Liberation War in 1971. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kazi Arifur Rahman paid homage to the late freedom fighter.

Satkhira Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fatematuz Johra, District Muktijoddha Sangsad, Satkhira district Awami League, former lawmaker Engineer Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, District Awami League General Secretary and District Council Chairman Nazrul Islam, Joint General Editor and Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad M Asaduzzaman Babu, District Awami League office secretary Harun Aur Rashid, Satkhira press club president Mamtaz Ahmed Bapi also paid homage to the veteran journalist.

Arun Banarjee passed away this afternoon here at the age of 70 due to old- age complications. Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Arun Banarjee. He prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to bereaved family members. Banarjee took part in the Liberation War. He served as Satkhira district correspondent of BSS till his death.
