Climate change worst affects country’s south-west zone: Khaleque

KHULNA,  – Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque today said the country’s southwest zone will be worst affected due to the adverse effects of climate change.

“Khulna is one of the global cities which is vulnerable state due to climate change,” he said addressing a press conference on the review of the United Nations (COP-26) and local level action plans at the KCC conference room.

KCC and AWOSED, a non-government organisation, jointly organised the conference. He underscored the need for making the most responsible country for climate change convinced to give compensation in the adaptation process.

The KCC Mayor demanded protection of forests as well as cut of carbon emission. KCC panel mayor-2 Ali Akbor Tipu, head of Urban Faculty of Khulna University and Engineering and Technology (KUET) Dr Mostofa Sarwar, and executive director of AWOSED Shamim Arefin attended the conference.
