Four held with drugs in Rangpur

RANGPUR,  – The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) in three separate drives seized 320 pieces of Yaba tablets and 3.20 kgs of ganja and arrested four presumed drug traders from the city today.

“On a tip off, a special team of police led by Inspector of Police (DB) of RpMP Md Motaleb Hossain conducted an anti-drug drive in Adarsha Para area and arrested a man with 20 pieces of Yaba tablets,” s press release said.

The arrested person is Md Bulbul Ahmed alias Badhon, 28, son of Md Abdul Halim of New Adarsha Para area under Ward no-21 of the metropolis.

In another anti-drug drive led by Inspector of Police (DB) Md Saleh Ahmed Pathan, the DB police seized 300 pieces of Yaba tablets and 1.20 kgs of ganja and arrested two men from Hotel Raj in the metropolis while they were selling drugs.

The arrested presumed drug traders are Mehedi Hasan alias Mohan, 28, son of late Abdus Salam of Guptapara area and Md Hasan, 38, son of Abdul Karim of Senpara area under Ward no-21 of the metropolis.

Yet in another drive, a team of DB police led by Sub-inspector Md Nazmul Islam conducted a raid at Dc Mour area under Ward no-18, seized two kgs of ganja and arrested a presumed drug trader.

The arrested person is Md Shahinur Islam, 20, son of Md Tozam Sarker of village Gaochulka under Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat district.

“The DB police filed three separate cases under the Narcotics Control Act- 2018 against the arrested persons and handed them over to Kotwali police station of RpMP,” the release added.
