Bilateral issues discussed between French diplomats and DU FEES

In invitation of Dean of FEES Dr Kawser Ahmed, two senior diplomats of Embassy of France in Dhaka paid a visit to Dhaka University (DU) and participated in several meetings with the faculty members including Chairman, Jobaer Alam and Assistant Professor Azam Chowdhury of the department of Oceanography recently. Guillaume Audren De Kerdrel, the Deputy Head of Mission and Lucie De Barros, Cultural Attache of the French Embassy and the faculty members of DU Oceanography department conversed on the inauguration of an academic exchange program among DU and French universities.

As per the discussion, two visiting scholars from France will teach at the Oceanography department of DU in the upcoming semesters and the students of this department will avail scholarship opportunities in France for higher studies and research.

At the meeting, everyone hoped to bridge a greater academic and research collaboration between the countries. They also expected that France would make a substantial contribution to the Department of Oceanography’s development by providing a variety of resources.

Later, the delegation from the French Embassy met the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah; the Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Dr. Sadeka Halim and the Chairman of the Department of Meteorology, Towhida Rashid.

The delegation also paid a visit to Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of DU, A S M Maksud Kamal. In his remarks, Professor Maksud Kamal emphasized that in light of DU’s centenary celebration, the DU administration is doing everything possible to uplift the university’s profile and asserted that this effort would continue to rise.
