RMCH counts two more fatalities in Covid-19 unit

RAJSHAHI,  – Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) recorded two more fatalities in its Covid-19 unit in the last 24 hours till 6am today, taking the death toll to 100, so far this month.

However, the previous day’s fatality figure was also two, while last Monday the hospital recorded zero death after a long time since the second wave of the pandemic hit the country around seven months back. Earlier, the number of casualties was 167 in September, 340 in August, 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said.

RMCH Director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdany told journalists that both the deceased were residents of Pabna district and they have died with symptoms of Covid-19.

Nine more patients were admitted to the Covid-19 designated unit during the past 24 hours, taking the number of admitted patients to 48. Two other patients returned home after being cured during the time. Meanwhile, two more people were diagnosed with Covid-19 after testing 94 samples in Rajshahi’s two laboratories on Friday, showing a 2.94 percent positivity rate against 1.81 percent on Thursday.
