DHAKA, – National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem today said the tax fair would not take place this year too because of the COVID-19 pandemic but the taxpayers would get all the tax related services at the taxes zones across the country in the environment of tax fair.

“Due to the COVID-19 situation, we’re not being able to hold the tax fair like the previous year. But we’ll ensure the tax fair-like environment at all the circles and taxes zones across the country like the previous year. The taxpayers will get all the tax related services there,” he said.

The NBR Chairman said this in a press conference at the NBR Building in the capital’s Segunbagicha.

Muneem said that the taxpayers would be able to submit their returns from November 1 to November 30 at 649 circles under 31 taxes zones. Besides, there will be special service booths, including one at Bangladesh Secretariat, to facilitate the return submission by the public servants.

The officials and employees at Bangladesh Secretariat would be able to take services from the booth from November 1 to November 14 which would save their time.

Besides, they would also be able to submit their income tax returns at Officers Club. The members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces would be able to submit their returns on November 9 and 10 at Dhaka Cantonment. The highest tax paying 141 persons would be honoured on November 24.

According to NBR, more than 4 lakh people made e-TIN registrations in the first three months of the current fiscal year (FY22). The number of e-TIN registrations in the last fiscal year (FY21) was 13 lakh.

The NBR Chairman said that some 67.92 lakh persons have so far received e-TIN numbers. NBR members and other high officials were present on the occasion.
