Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government was in a tough position on the Cumilla Puja Mandap incident. He said those who are spreading rumors about the incident on Facebook will be identified and brought under the law. He told reporters after a meeting with top law enforcement officials at the Secretariat on Thursday (October 14). Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said some people have been identified in the Cumilla incident. Some of the suspects have already been arrested and are being interrogated. Several rioters across the country have been arrested for suspecting. The arrest process will continue. Arrests will be made wherever there is chaos. We want to arrest those who were specifically involved or provoked.
The home minister said the BGB was deployed to co-operate with the security forces. If it is thought that there may be chaos then the BGB comes on the recommendation of the Home Ministry at the request of the DC. He said that a propaganda was being spread on Facebook that the police had given instructions to stop worship from the fake ID of the IGP. But we did not give any such instructions.
We will also identify those who are making such attempts and bring them under the law. I will not allow any troublemaker to engage in such mischief. No one should spread rumors through social media. The culprits behind the incident would be investigated. We must find out all those involved. The government is in a strict position in this regard.
“We have noticed an unfortunate incident at a puja mandapa in Cumilla,” he said. It is spread everywhere through social media. Immediately our security forces started investigation. In that context, some heartbreaking incidents have also taken place. I saw the scene of killing four people in Hajiganj of Chandpur.
Incidents have taken place in different places including Zakiganj in Sylhet and Bashkhali in Chattogram. Law enforcement agencies worked all night to control the incident. Today we are sitting here. If there is any negligence on the part of the four people who have been killed, we are also looking into it, we will take legal action. The Home Minister said, we think the incident in Cumilla is intentional. and this work of a conspirator. At the end of the investigation we will be able to report all the facts.
However, those who believe in religion cannot do such things. We see this as an attempt to destroy the recent alliance and harmony that exists in our country.
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said there was a decision to install CCTV at the place of worship and they would also have volunteers with our security forces, but they did not do that in many places of worship. I am again calling for the deployment of CCTV and its own volunteers in all those puja mandaps. “Everyone has to be patient so that there is no chaos until the idol is immersion,” he said.
Our tradition is to maintain a peaceful environment in harmony with all. Not to be distracted by any provocation. That is why the law enforcement agencies will cooperate in every possible way.
