Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad today extended his greetings to the Hindu community in the country marking the Sharadiya Durga Puja, one of their main religious festivals in Bangladesh.
“The occasion created an atmosphere of massive festivity and interfaith harmony across the country,” he said in a statement coinciding with the Durga Puja.
He expected the festival to remove social darkness and all kinds of discrimination and injustice and usher a new dawn of equality, amity, and goodwill everywhere.
“It is my expectation that the beauty of the eternal Bengali religious, social values and culture remain intact,” said Ahmed, also a 1971 Liberation War veteran and recipient of Bir Bikrom gallantry award.
He urged all to join hands build a beautiful, peaceful, and discrimination-free country embracing the great spirit of social solidarity and religious harmony and wished the joy of the festival spread to every home.
