Jannatul Sumaiya Heme began her acting career with roles in several television serials but later focused primarily on single-episode dramas. Now, she has returned with serial ‘Prothom Premer Golpo’, directed by Tanvir Tonmoy. New episodes of the series released on Monday and will air every Monday and Tuesday on the NAF Entertainment YouTube channel, starting October 12.
Speaking about her return, Heme said, “I can’t remember exactly how long it has been since I last acted in a serial. Early in my career, I worked with Niloy Alamgir in Jole Veja Rong and Smritir Alpona Anki. Later, I became busy with single-episode dramas and couldn’t make time for serials. Sometimes, when a single-episode drama becomes popular, viewers want to see what happens next. That was one of the things we kept in mind while planning this series. Besides, serials are becoming popular again. Considering everything, I felt this was the right time to return.”
Heme’s comments reveal that this marks her return to serial dramas after nearly four years. Once again, she is paired with Niloy Alamgir. The cast also includes Farin Khan, Sujata, Ali Raj and Farzana Chumki, among others.
Actors who regularly work in single-episode dramas are often reluctant to commit to serials because of scheduling complications. Heme says she faced a similar challenge.
“That happened in my case, too. While working on Prothom Premer Golpo, I had to step away from plans for several single-episode dramas. However, I wasn’t disappointed. The production involves just as much planning and preparation as a single-episode drama, and everyone has approached the work with great dedication. Overall, I’m happy to be part of a promising project,” she said.
Prothom Premer Golpo explores corporate rivalries, romance, family secrets and revenge. Heme plays Mehnaz Kabir, a forthright corporate executive who serves as the managing director of a renowned company.
“Viewers will see me as a straightforward corporate woman. The story features revenge, but it also has a beautiful love story. All things considered, I would call it a complete package for the audience,” Heme said.
