The “Naruto” franchise is set to expand with a new anime television series crossing over with the manga “NINKŪ” and a new manga titled “Shadow Rising” by creator Masashi Kishimoto.
The announcements were made during a panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, where the upcoming anime, “NARUTOxNINKŪ”, was unveiled under the supervision of Kishimoto and “NINKŪ” creator Koji Kiriyama.
According to the official description, Team 7 members Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura receive a mission from Kakashi. As Kakashi cannot accompany them, Naruto is appointed acting leader and becomes determined to complete the mission successfully.
However, the trio gets lost in another world, where they encounter a boy named Fūsuke, whose face resembles a frog’s. The series will follow their journey through the unfamiliar world and the challenges that await them.
The panel concluded with a teaser video announcing Kishimoto’s new Naruto manga, “Shadow Rising”, which is likely to follow events after Naruto became the Hokage. Further details are expected to be revealed at Jump Festa 2027 in December.
A message from Destin Daniel Cretton, director of the upcoming live-action “Naruto” film, was also shared during the event.
Cretton said the production team was excited about bringing Kishimoto’s characters and world to life, adding that the film would focus on Naruto’s determination, compassion and perseverance despite repeated failures and being underestimated by others.
He said the team was approaching the world, relationships and journeys created by Kishimoto with care and was working hard on the film, with more updates to come.
