Sadnima Binte Noman is steadily making her mark as an actress on the small screen. Her recent solo dramas, Apon Por, Anarkoli and Mayar Manush, have drawn considerable attention from viewers. Another solo drama featuring the actress, Tomar Thikanay, premiered on the Hiya Entertainment YouTube channel, introducing her in a new role.
In a conversation with The Bangladesh Today, Sadnima discussed her recent television projects and other aspects of her acting career.
Seven of your dramas were released within a single month, and all have begun attracting viewers’ attention. Did you ever imagine this could happen outside a festival season?
I have always seen several dramas being aired on television or released on YouTube around festivals and special occasions. Honestly, I never imagined I would experience something like this at time of the year. While having so many dramas released within a short period is exciting, I am even happier that audiences are watching them and responding positively. As a young actress, this means something special to me.
Tell us about your recently released drama Tomar Thikanay. Does its story or your character offer anything different from your previous projects?
Tomar Thikanay is a family drama. I have worked in several family dramas before, but this story is somewhat different from those projects. The character is also distinctive. More importantly, director Ser niabat Shawon has presented the story and its characters in a way that I hope will leave a lasting impression on viewers.
Apart from a handful of projects, you have worked opposite Khairul Basar in most of your dramas. Is this pairing is your choice or something the directors prefer?
Our continued pairing is largely driven by audience demand. Directors consider what viewers like and dislike when deciding on screen pairings. After we worked together in two or three dramas, audiences became increasingly interested in seeing Khairul Basar and me together. Directors then continued casting us in successive projects. As one drama after another attracted viewers’ attention, we gradually established ourselves as a popular on-screen pair. Since I chose acting as a career for the audience, I try to give priority to what they enjoy.
When an on-screen pair becomes popular, rumours of a romantic relationship often follow. Have you heard any such rumours about yourself and Khairul Basar?
Rumours are just rumours. I believe it is best to focus on my work rather than pay attention to what people say. I have noticed that when audiences like an on-screen pair, fans also want to see the two together in real life. They may not understand how different life on screen is from reality.
You previously worked with Tawsif Mahbub in Moneri Ronge Rangiye.and recently starred opposite him in Apon Por. How was your experience working with him?
Tawsif Mahbub is still the same person I knew when we worked together in Moneri Ronge Rangiye. Becoming a big star has not made him the slightest bit arrogant. He was supportive to me then, and he remains just as helpful now. His dedication to his work is truly worth emulating.
Your acting career is still relatively new, yet you already seem to have a busy schedule. How do you view this growing workload?
Elders often say that staying busy is part of the natural flow of life. I believe that wholeheartedly. So, whatever project I take on, I try to complete it with enthusiasm and enjoy the process. Like many others, this is the kind of busy schedule I have always wanted.
