A lack of promotion ahead of film releases has become an increasingly noticeable problem in recent times. Artistes have often expressed frustration over the issue, with many arguing that promising films fail at the box office because they do not receive adequate publicity.
Keeping these concerns in mind, actor Joy Chowdhury has announced ambitious promotional plans for Sneher Bondhon, which is set to hit cinemas during Durga Puja. The film will be released on October 16, and Chowdhury wants to ensure that audiences across the country hear about its arrival.
Although the team has hinted at extensive promotional activities through the media and social media, the filmmakers and cast members have chosen not to reveal the details of their main campaign just yet.
Based on a true story, Sneher Bondhon has been directed by Kamruzzaman. According to the director, the film explores family relationships, emotions and interpersonal conflicts.
The film was initially scheduled for release in July, when its trailer and a song were also unveiled. However, the release plan was changed at the last moment, with the team opting for Durga Puja instead.
The film’s official promotional campaign began with a press conference at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on Tuesday. Speaking at the event, Joy Chowdhury outlined plans for an extensive campaign.
“Releasing a film outside the Eid festivals has become a major challenge. I would like to thank the producer for taking this decision. The film’s box-office performance is a separate matter; our priority is to promote it properly. We have planned a large-scale campaign and want to do something that has never been done before in Bangladeshi cinema. We want to reach audiences everywhere so that people across the country know that Sneher Bondhon is coming to cinemas on October 16,” Chowdhury said.
Director Kamruzzaman said, “In the past, social dramas and action films were often released in Bangladesh around Durga Puja. My film follows that tradition. I hope audiences will enjoy it.”
Mou Khan stars opposite Joy Chowdhury in Sneher Bondhon. The cast also includes Shiba Shanu, Kazi Hayat, Saberi Alam, Nader Chowdhury and Rina Khan, among others. The film is produced by Md Shah Alam.
