DU to resume in person class after vaccinating all

DHAKA, – The Dhaka University authorities have decided to resume in person class and other regular academic activities after ensuring that all the students are vaccinated.

However, the dormitories will be reopened on October 5 for the honors final year and master’s students who have received at least first shot of Covid-19 vaccine while the libraries will be reopened on September 26.

The decisions came from syndicate meeting of the university held today with the Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

The students can enter their halls from 8:00am on the day after showing their vaccination cards and valid university identity cards.

For honors 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students will be allowed to stay in the dormitories after ensuring full dose of vaccines, read the release.

However, the authorities did not mention any possible date when the halls will be available for the rest of the students.

Residential halls will not be crowded as before and there will be no so-called ‘Ganorooms’ said the release, adding that only regular residential students will be allowed to stay in the dormitories maintaining health guidelines and protocols.

The cooperation of all concerned including active student organizations is expected to maintain a conducive learning atmosphere in the halls and campus, it added. Meanwhile, the university has taken initiative to set up a vaccination center at DU Medical Center.

Students who are yet to register for vaccination have been asked to complete registration by September 27 with National Identity Card / Birth Registration Certificate and get vaccinated.
