

Staff Correspondent: The government has promoted 11 general managers (GMs) of state-owned commercial and specialised banks and financial institutions to the post of deputy managing director (DMD).
The Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on Thursday, promoting the officials and posting them to the institutions named against their respective names.
Mohammad Shahidur Rahman, a general manager of Rupali Bank PLC, has been promoted to DMD of Rupali Bank, while Mohammad Fazlul Karim of Agrani Bank PLC has been promoted to DMD of Agrani Bank.
Abu Sayeed Md Roushanul Haque, a GM of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, has been promoted to DMD of the same bank. Md Abdul Matin of Janata Bank PLC has also been promoted to DMD of Janata Bank.
Ashrafuzzaman Khan, a GM of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, has been posted as DMD of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank. Md Iqbal Hossain Khan, a GM of Rupali Bank, has been posted as DMD of Janata Bank.
Shikdar Faruk-e-Azam, a GM of Rupali Bank, has been promoted and posted as DMD of the same bank. Shahinur Sultana of Agrani Bank has been posted as DMD of Bangladesh Development Bank PLC.
Md Hasan Imam, a GM of BASIC Bank PLC, has been posted as DMD of Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB).
Md Zaman Molla and Md Safayet Hossain Patwari, both GMs of Sonali Bank PLC, have been promoted to DMD and posted at Sonali Bank.
The notification said the service of the promoted officials would be governed by the Policy on Nomination, Appointment, Promotion and Posting to the Posts of managing director, deputy managing director and general manager of state-owned commercial banks, Specialised Banks and Financial Institutions, 2026, along with other policies and notifications issued by the government from time to time.
