Dighi still awaits a career breakthrough

SHEHUB MUNAWAR WAHID

Dhallywood actress Prarthana Fardin Dighi rose to stardom as a child artist at a very young age. However, her career has faded considerably since she grew up. The trajectory of her long career appears to have been gradually declining. Since making her debut as a leading actress in 2021, she has yet to achieve a major success, despite having an enviable record as a child artist.

At present, the actress is largely occupied with advertisements and promotional campaigns for various products and organisations. For someone whose career began with acting and who once had a promising presence on the big screen, Dighi’s current situation is a source of disappointment for her fans. Months and years have passed, yet a major breakthrough continues to elude her. Her fans remain hopeful that she will overcome this phase and return to her familiar stride.

Earlier this year, Dighi also worked in a web film. However, little has been heard about Suman Dhar’s project since then. The actress has been absent from the big screen for nearly two years. Her last release was 36-24-36, which came out in November 2024. She failed to make a significant impact in Rezaur Rahman’s film.

During this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr, Dighi appeared in the film Jongli. However, her character had very limited screen time, leaving her with little opportunity to prove herself. As a result, film audiences have not been seeing much of the actress on the big screen.

Many had hoped that Biday would help fill that gap. Directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, known for Borbad, the film stars Dighi alongside veteran actors such as Bapparaj, Fazlur Rahman Babu and Faruque Ahmed. But unfortunately, the film itself has struggled to reach audiences.

Apart from Biday, there is currently no news of Dighi appearing in another new film. Biday was originally scheduled for release during last year’s Durga Puja. However, the release could not take place as production had not been completed. Director Hridoy later planned to release the film during this year’s Eid-ul-Adha, but producer Shahrin Sultana Sumi did not agree to the plan.

There were also reports that some shooting remained incomplete. Then, at the beginning of September, fresh speculation emerged that Biday would finally be released during this year’s Durga Puja. However, with virtually no promotional activities underway, questions have once again arisen over whether the film will actually make it to theatres.

Producer Sumi has now made it clear that Biday will not be released during this Durga Puja either. She said one song still needs to be filmed, and the team plans to shoot it abroad. Once all the work is completed, Biday will be released sometime next year.

Exactly when that will happen, however, remains uncertain, as the producer has not provided a specific release date.
