Folk music runs deep in Dr. Zahidul Kabir’s veins. With a deep passion for Bangla music since childhood, the popular singer has already won audiences across all divisions of Bangladesh and in several countries through performances with his folk music ensemble.

He continues to practise Bangla folk music and is working to take the country’s rich folk tradition to audiences around the world.

Dr. Zahidul Kabir was born and raised in Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira. He developed a strong interest in music from an early age and regularly performed at school programmes and various local events in his village.

He now regularly performs with his team both at home and abroad. Most recently, he returned to Bangladesh after performing at an event in London.

His ensemble features several popular and talented musicians. According to the group’s leader, they are set to travel to different countries around the world for performances soon.

The members of his team include Forhad Hossain, Hajera Sultana, Md Masum Hossain, Showpan Kumar Das, Johra Hossain Jemi and Bikash Kumar Choudhuri.

Dr. Zahidul Kabir’s full name is Md Zahidul Kabir. He has already performed Bangla folk music in several countries, including India, China, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Nepal and Jordan. These international performances stand as a notable achievement in his career.

He is also a special-grade enlisted singer with Bangladesh Betar. In addition, he serves as the general secretary of the Bangladesh Dotara Artists’ Organisation and vice-president of the Bangladesh Baul and Baul Artists’ Organisation.

Speaking about his aspirations, Dr. Zahidul Kabir said, “I want to spread folk music both at home and abroad. I want to remain immersed in folk music throughout my life. As long as I live, I want to stay connected with music.”
