Sabnam Faria shares her years-long experience with PCOS

TBT DESK

Popular small-screen actress Sabnam Faria has opened up about her long-running struggle with PCOS and various physical and mental health challenges, saying she has grown tired of the fight.

In a recent social media post, Faria described dealing with hair loss, skin problems, lack of sleep, anxiety, depression and social pressure over her weight.

She said she feels exhausted from constantly managing PCOS, androgen-related hair loss and skin problems. The actress added that she cannot remember the last time she had a proper night’s sleep or woke up after getting seven or eight hours of uninterrupted rest.

Faria also spoke about her frustration over her efforts to manage her cortisol levels and weight. She said she has tried fasting, intense exercise and weightlifting but has not achieved the results she hoped for. At times, she became so weak from not eating that her blood sugar dropped and she fainted.

The actress said she has also withdrawn from social gatherings. She no longer feels like attending invitations or social events because she expects people to comment on her weight.

According to Faria, she often hears remarks such as, “Why have you become so fat?”, “Don’t you go to the gym?” and “Change your diet.” She said repeatedly hearing such comments has made social situations difficult for her.

Her concerns about her body have also affected her work. Faria said that whenever she receives a script, she starts thinking about her weight and how she will look on screen even before considering the character.

The actress said her struggle has continued since she was 16. After so many years, however, she has reached a point where she no longer understands what she is fighting for.

Faria also admitted that she has lost confidence in her appearance and body. She said she cannot remember the last time she felt good about herself after wearing a new saree.

Concerns about fat around her stomach and chin have also reduced her interest in dressing up. She remains unhappy about her hair as well. Even when she considers getting a haircut, she worries about how little hair she has left.

Her post offered a candid glimpse into the emotional toll that years of health challenges, body-image concerns and social pressure have taken on her.
