Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo today said the problems the Feni people have been facing will be resolved on arrival of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Feni.
He made the remarks while inspecting the venues for the inauguration of the ‘Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Irrigation, and Drainage’ project and a public rally to be addressed by the Prime Minister in Feni.
On Tuesday afternoon, the environment minister visited the sites of both events in the district's Fulgazi and Parshuram upazilas and observed overall preparations.
He first visited the grounds of Fulgazi Government Pilot High School at 3:30 am, followed by a visit to Khoyaghat area in Mirzanagar, Parshuram, at 4:00 am.
During his visit, Mintoo said, “We express our gratitude to Allah that the Prime Minister is visiting Feni within seven months of the government’s formation. He shares a special bond with Feni. So, he will address our demands and expectations. We hope that the Prime Minister's visit will lead to resolving the issues faced by the people of Feni.”
The minister added that the Prime Minister would visit Feni again after October 1. “As you know, the Mushapur Closure project was approved by ECNEC today, and the Muhuri-Kahua embankment project had been approved earlier.”
When construction work on the Mushapur Closure begins, the Prime Minister will come to Feni for its inauguration and he will also visit Noakhali at that time, Mintoo said.
Feni-1 MP Munshi Rafiqul Alam Majnu; Rehana Akter Ranu, MP (reserved women's seat), Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Mahbubul Karim, Parashuram Upazila Nirbahi Officer Atanu Barua, Fulgazi UNO Mohammad Kawsar Hamid, BNP National Executive Committee members Advocate Mezbah Uddin Khan and Abu Taleb, District BNP Convener Sheikh Farid Bahar, its Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal, Joint Conveners Gazi Habibullah Manik and Anwar Hossain Patwari; Daganbhuiyan Upazila BNP Convener Akbar Hossain, District Swechchhasebak Dal President Saidur Rahman Jewel, District Jubo Dal Convener Nasir Uddin Khandaker and Member Secretary Naim Ullah Chowdhury Barat, and District Chhatra Dal President Salauddin Mamun were present, among others.
The prime minister's visit was originally scheduled for September 17 but was later postponed and rescheduled for October 1.
