Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah’s The Vvaan - Force of the Forest registered a rise at the box office on its second day, with the film building momentum through the day and drawing its strongest footfall in the night shows. The film continued its run in cinemas amid competition from Nani’s The Paradise and the seventh-week hold of Hanuman Ansh.

The film saw footfalls improve across the day, with attendance picking up in key centres such as the National Capital Region, Mumbai and Ahmedabad in the later screenings. It also continued its overseas run after opening in the middle of a busy theatrical week.

On Day 2, The Vvaan - Force of the Forest collected Rs 11.00 crore nett across 6,887 shows. With this, its total India gross collections reached Rs 22.60 crore, while its total India nett collections stood at Rs 19.00 crore. Overseas, the film collected Rs 1.25 crore on its second day, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 2.25 crore. Its worldwide gross collection has now reached Rs 24.85 crore.

Across the day, The Vvaan - Force of the Forest recorded an overall occupancy of 38.54 per cent. It opened to 16.54 per cent occupancy in the morning shows, before rising to 38.38 per cent in the afternoon and 38.92 per cent in the evening. Night shows drew the strongest footfall, with occupancy climbing to 54.92 per cent.

The National Capital Region recorded the highest number of screenings for the film, with 840 shows and an overall occupancy of 41.0 per cent. It began at 16.0 per cent in the morning, rose to 44.0 per cent in the afternoon, and held at 52.0 per cent in both the evening and night slots. Mumbai followed with 502 shows and an overall occupancy of 38.8 per cent. The city registered 18.0 per cent occupancy in the morning, 37.0 per cent in the afternoon, 44.0 per cent in the evening and 56.0 per cent at night. Ahmedabad logged 332 shows and an overall occupancy of 27.0 per cent, with 10.0 per cent in the morning, 22.0 per cent in the afternoon, 25.0 per cent in the evening and a rise to 51.0 per cent in the night shows.

The film had opened with Rs 8 crore nett across 6,746 shows on Day 1, with its India gross at Rs 9.60 crore on the first day. At the same time, Nani’s The Paradise, which released on September 24 after paid previews from September 23, had collected Rs 98.50 crore in worldwide gross by Day 2, including Rs 72.50 crore from India gross and Rs 26.00 crore from overseas. Its India nett collection stood at Rs 61.15 crore across 17,681 shows.

Hanuman Ansh also continued its theatrical run in its seventh week. The film has collected Rs 389.85 crore worldwide in gross, including Rs 352.10 crore from India and Rs 37.75 crore from overseas. Its India nett collection stands at Rs 298.03 crore across 214,285 shows. On its eighth Saturday, September 26, the film earned Rs 7.75 crore gross and Rs 6.50 crore nett across 3,979 shows. On Day 51, it recorded overall theatre occupancy of 44.04 per cent, opening at 19 per cent in the morning, rising to 42.08 per cent in the afternoon, 55.46 per cent in the evening and 59.62 per cent in the night shows.

Review and cast

India Today gave the film 2 stars. A part of the review read, “What makes The Vvaan frustrating is that there is a good folk tale buried somewhere underneath all this. A goddess, a forbidden forest, an ancient bloodline, a grieving couple and a village caught between faith and modernity: the ingredients are right there. The film simply keeps adding to the pot instead of letting the original flavours come through.”

The Vvaan also features Anup Soni, Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari and Maniesh Paul, among others.
