Prime Minister's Adviser on Finance and Planning Prof Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir said that Bangladesh has embarked on a transformation journey aimed at becoming a trillion-dollar economy by 2034, moving beyond the fragile economy inherited from the previous regime.

"The government was pursuing a new development model based on a three-R strategy - recovery, restoration and reconstruction," he said.

The adviser made the remarks on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at the biennial convention of the American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects (AABEA) in Detroit, Michigan, said a press release today.

Titumir said the strategy focuses on investment, production, employment and increased public investment in education and healthcare.

He said Bangladesh aimed to emerge as a competitive manufacturing hub through industrial diversification, higher productivity and technological advancement.

He urged Bangladeshi-American engineers, scientists and technology entrepreneurs to act as a gateway to the US innovation ecosystem by connecting Bangladesh with leading universities, research laboratories, technology companies and investors.

The adviser also called upon diaspora professionals to mentor young engineers, facilitate technology transfer, establish research partnerships and connect Bangladeshi startups with global capital and markets.

"Your knowledge, credibility, experience and professional networks are themselves a form of investment in Bangladesh," he said, proposing a sustained platform to link diaspora expertise with Bangladesh's universities, industries and entrepreneurs.

"Let us transform individual Bangladeshi success in America into collective opportunity for Bangladesh," he added.

AABEA President Engineer Monir Zaman presided over the convention, which was attended by Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, Michigan Supreme Court Justice Megan Cavanagh and Bangladeshi-American professionals from across the United States.
