Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) panel mayor Md Osman Gani has died while undergoing treatment in Singapore at the age of 69.

He breathed his last at Singapore General Hospital around 8:30am on Saturday (Bangladesh time), confirmed DNCC Public Relations Officer ASM Mamun.

He left behind his wife and four sons to mourn his death.

On September 4, 2017, the government formed a three-member mayoral panel to carry out the regular duties of DNCC in absence of ailing mayor Annisul Huq.

Ward 21 Councillor Osman Gani was made first panel mayor, Ward 4 Councillor amal Mostofa second and Councillor of Reserved Seat of Ward 31, 32 and 34 Aleya Sarowar Daisy was named as third panel mayor.

On November 30, 2017, Annisul Huq lost the battle for life in a London hospital last night, after nearly three months’ treatment there.
